MONROE – A local woman, who was the victim of identity theft for a second time, received a message from a car insurance company about her recent DUI accident in New York City. The message was followed with a letter concerning the same accident.
According to police, the motorist involved in a DUI accident produced a license that bore the victim’s name and driver’s license number.
The victim told police that she has not lost her Connecticut driver’s license nor did she intend to have it renewed. She told police that she is completely unaware of how the New York motorist got hold of her license and took our car insurance in her name.
As of now, the Monroe woman was cleared of any involvement in the DUI accident when Monroe police detectives intervened. They are assisting New York police in investigating the fraud case.
