ATH, N.Y. – According to reports, a New York man was charged for driving a stolen lawnmower under the influence. The Steuben County man is in the county jail now.
The incident took place on Wednesday when police agencies were told to be on the lookout for a stolen Craftsman lawnmower in the village of Bath which is situated about 60 miles southeast of Rochester.
Later, police found 28-year-old George Barkley driving it on a village street. He belongs to Bath.
Barkley’s blood-alcohol level was recorded at 0.1 percent which is just above the 0.08 percent legal limit.
According to police, Barkley was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving without a license.
Sources told that he was arraigned in village court and sent to Steuben County Jail on $1,000 bail or $2,000 bonds. It is still not clear if he has a lawyer.
