New York toughens drunken driving law

ALBANY, N.Y. – A new law was signed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo to keep intoxicated drivers off New York roads and to keep the citizens safe while driving on the roads.

According to the new law, impaired driving on a conditional license will be considered a felony. Drivers who lose their driving license for DUI conviction may be issued a conditional license and with a conditional license, a person can only drive for going to work or in emergency situations like going to the hospital.

Driving drunk on a revoked license was already a felony, doing it on a conditional license has been only a traffic infraction.
