Attorney Austin’s Most Common Cases
Interviewer: What are the most common types of crimes that you represent people for over the last few years?
Stuart Austin: We do handle many driving while intoxicated (DWI) cases, as well as the drug charges, appearances in drug treatment courts and drug possession or intent to sell charges. Then we’ve have many other cases, more serious cases, which are the burglaries and the robberies. This is primarily because many of the courts in Nassau, Suffolk, even Queens, are taking a very hard stance on those cases.
Interviewer: Are there any other types of crime that you deal with pretty commonly?
Stuart Austin: A new court opened up, which they call the APP court, and that’s for adolescents. That’s another diversion court, but it’s for people who are under the age of 18. In those cases, most of the clients we represent are given a second chance. This is so that no one can find out what the outcome was or even find out about the initial charge because they are so young.
We’ve started handling those cases a little more than we had in the past. We are an experienced firm and we have defended clients whose charges range from traffic tickets to murders.
